The Life of Saint Dymphna
Madness, Martyrdom, and Miracles
Rev. Tobias Mercer
Independently published, november 2025
In the mist-shrouded hills of early medieval Ireland, a princess was born
whose life would forever intertwine courage, faith, and mercy. Dymphna,
daughter of a king, seemed destined for a life of privilege, comfort, and the
quiet rhythms of courtly life. Yet, as the shadows of grief and madness fell upon
her family, her path veered toward excile, suffering, and ultimately, martyrdom.
What began as a tale of royal tragedy transformed into a story of extraordinary
holiness - a story that continues to inspire, heal, and illuminate the hearts of
the faithful across centuries.

Review
This book is a modern retelling of the legend surrounding Saint Dymphna, with the author's imagination filling in missing details.
The author also combines two saints: Saint Damnoda, nicknamed Dymna, of the Orgiel tribe, and Saint Dymphna, known from Geel in Belgium.
It's a 'historical' fantasy novel, albeit one that doesn't take historicity seriously.
So it's just a fantasy book... It was complete waste of my time and money!
